Prairies in the height of summer offer hues of lush green grasses, flowers that resemble a rainbow of fireworks and a plethora of birds, bees and butterflies. A sight to be seen morning, noon and night and always buzzing with activity.
In winter, when most of the state is a blanket of white, it's hard to find beauty in an otherwise bleak start to the year. However, this morning a sparkling wonderland appeared before our eyes and we couldn't wait to share it with you!
We leave our prairies in their natural state all winter long. The seed heads provide food for the birds and other animals and the grasses provide habitat. Enjoy and remember a prairie provides beauty for all seasons!
