A fairly tall sedge reaching up to 3 1/2 feet, consisting of loose tufts and leafy culms.
The seed heads droop over and are very attractive from late spring to mid-summer. The root system is fibrous and rhizomatous.
This sedge often forms colonies of plants. Good for part shade rain gardens.
