Leersia oryzoides - Rice Cut Grass

Rice Cut Grass is a native cool season perennial grass found throughout the United States and Canada.

It typically blooms and flowers in late summer. It is a food and habitat resource for wetland waterfowl, mammals, amphibian and fish. It is the host plant for the Least Skipper butterfly.

The rhizomatous nature of its roots system make it useful in sediment and erosion control. The flower head is open and drooping.

It grows to 3 to 6 feet.
