One Patch, Twelve Times: January

January 17, 2018

Sometimes we forget to stop and notice. Notice light. Notice colors. Notice changes. Notice nature. A friend shared that he is oftern asked why he hikes the same trail over and over. Seen it once, why see it again? Soooo many reasons. My friend notices. He perceives nuance in nature and is richer for it.

During my career's work, I offered an experience to willing souls who would lend me their time once a month for a year. We traveled the same trail each month, documenting predetermined points with photos. At the end of the year, I compiled our journey scene by scene, season by season. How remarkable to be a purposeful noticer! Nature did not disappoint as our senses heightened in our expectation and anticipation of change.

For over a year now, I have observed the prairie at OPN during my life's chapter two employment. Once again, honored to be privy to nature's nuance and drama. Colors, shapes, and critters come and go as the world turns bringing daylight and seasonal revolution.  I'd like to share it all with you. Each month I'll do my darndest to stand in the same spot at the same time of day and snap a picture. Notice with me. You're invited back to the blog for one prairie patch, twelve times.

January's stark beauty saturated with peaceful rest.
