Rudbeckia hirta - Black-eyed Susan

Rudbeckia hirta is a well known and important early successional native wildflower species. Classified as a biennial it frequently acts as an annual or perennial as well.

It grows from a tap rooted system and is tolerant of a wide range of soil types and moistures. Great for erosion control.

Provides excellent habitat for numerous bird species. Also is a good nectar source for numerous pollinators.

It is deer resistant and widespread across the United States and Canada.
