Indian grass is a native perennial warm season bunch grass. It is one of the main constituents of the tall grass prairie, typically growing from 3 to 6Â feet in height.
It is an excellent erosion control species due to a deep fibrous root system and is perfect for your native material landscape.
It prefers mesic soils and full sun.
Found from Arizona - Montana east to the east coast of the United States and north into Canada.
